Permanent Textile Structures

Discover our permanent Textile Structures, ideal for long-term protection from sun and rain. Durable, customized for any outdoor space.

What is a permanent
Textile Structure?

In addition to semi-permanent shelters, we are also a manufacturer, distributor and assembler of permanent, industrial Textile Structures. Industrial tarp canopies are enormously sturdy, fixed structures with reinforced concrete foundations. With the permanent sail construction, we go from wind resistant (up to 8 Beaufort) to storm resistant (up to 12 Beaufort) and a possible snowball load of 30cm.

What are permanent
Textile Structures used for?

Industrial or permanent canopies have many applications. Think hospitality terraces, but squares at recreational parks and public places also benefit from a fixed, permanent tarp construction.

Together with you and your team, we will arrive at a design unique to your needs and the needs of the desired location.

Everything customized

HOOVER Concepts® uses high-quality membranes (from reputable brands such as Serge Ferrari and Mehler) and have a lifespan of 15 to 20 years, regardless of weather conditions.

Of course, the load-bearing structure is also fully custom developed and calculated. We have all this knowledge and know-how in-house so that we can relieve you from A to Z and you can be sure of one contact person throughout the project.

How is a permanent Textile Structure constructed?

A permanent Textile Structure is composed of the membrane, supporting structure and foundation. Tensioned sail canopies are curved between supporting elements that reflect the flow of tension forces within the membrane. To give stability to a membrane structure, saddle-like curvature is necessary. The so-called “anticlastic deformation” combined with an applied preload leads to a stiffening of the surface and thus to the desired and statically calculable stiffness. The greater the deformation, the lower the applied preload forces, which ultimately result from external loads such as wind and snow, for example. We call this process formfinding and comes about through the collaboration between you as the client, the architect, engineering and sailmaking.

Light weight, light-
permeable and waterproof

Industrial membrane structures are lightweight structures full of beauty and elegance. The trick is to cover enormous distances with minimal material thickness, with the design following the forces in the membrane. This symbiosis of form and structure reduces weight, minimizes resources and thus saves energy and cost and creates light-filled, striking and impressive forms of architecture in membrane enclosures.

Aesthetics and elegance

Membrane structures have a unique visual character. They allow you as a designer, architect or engineer to experiment with forms full of beauty and elegance that meet the highest aesthetic requirements. Membrane structures are structurally optimized and highly efficient. The huge range of surge capacities requires less primary structure and is therefore very cost-effective. Ideal for sustainable building solutions.

An international project?

HOOVER Concepts® works and operates from Belgium and the Netherlands. But you can also contact us for international projects. For example, we operate in Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Spain and even Bulgaria. We have a national presence and work by region with local and carefully chosen subject matter experts.

Our working method

At HOOVER Concepts®, we guide you from start to finish. We start with personal advice and a custom design. Then we ensure flawless production and installation with high-quality materials. Even after installation, we remain available for maintenance and support. Together we create a canopy that fits you perfectly!

1. CONTACT

Conversation on location: Determination of requirements and wishes, explanation of method, use of materials and possibilities. Measurement of current situation and initiation of 3D design including shadow simulation.

2. LAYOUT 3D STUDY

3D study and drawing in the various designs and possibilities. This is followed by a presentation, explanation and optimization of the 3D designs.

3. PRE-ENGINEERING

Design phase to final design of the entire structure. Including shape determination and stress analysis, calculation of wind and snow loads, reporting of resulting forces on the support structure.

4. ENGINEERING

Preparation of all construction plans and working drawings.

5. PRODUCTION

Production of the underlying, load-bearing steel structure and membrane, trial erection and powder coating of the steel structure.

6. ASSEMBLY AND DELIVERY

Finally, placing the foundation, mounting the steel structure and installing and tensioning the membrane.

Maintenance and inspection

Permanent HOOVER Concepts® Textile Structures require little maintenance compared to a conventional building of similar size and area. HOOVER Concepts® in collaboration with other specialized partners, offers a complete range of maintenance, inspection, cleaning, testing and repair services and support for any structure.
